Homeowners tend to overlook the importance of their home's fascia and soffit. These two key exterior elements work in conjunction to provide protection to the home's interior and roofing system while making the exterior aesthetically pleasing.

A home's fascia and soffit are vulnerable to water damage and rot. Damage could be caused by sun exposure, wind storms, hails storms, and improper gutter installation or gutter malfunction and can lead to costly damage and eventually require replacement.

Aluminum Soffit Installation Soffit

Soffit refers to the underside of a building's element. They bridge the gap between a structures exterior wall and the roof eave. The purpose of the soffit is to provide proper ventilation for the home's attic. Because of its location, soffits can be vulnerable to water damage from failing gutters, weather, and animals such as squirrels and birds. Soffit material can be wood, metal, aluminum or vinyl. Now days most homeowners choose a metal, aluminum or vinyl soffit to minimize maintenance.

Aluminum Gutters Installation Gutters

Homeowners are well aware of the importance of gutters to their homes and why it is so necessary to keep gutters clear of leaves, twigs, and other debris. A clogged gutter can lead to all kinds of costly problems, including damaged gutters, roof leaks, and landscaping damage.

One way to prevent such damage is to consider seamless gutters instead of traditional sectioned gutters. Without seams, there is less opportunity for leaks and less likley for debris to clog the gutters. Both systems have advantages and disadvantages depending on the type of home you own, the location you live in, and much more.

Traditional Vinyl Gutters Installation Traditional Gutters

Traditional gutters come in pre-cut sections, usually 10 ft in length which are easy to assemble, but those sections must be sealed or soldered at the joints. Sectioned gutters are available in a variety of materials, including steel, aluminum, and vinyl. Steel is easily the strongest material, so it is good for areas that experience extreme weather, heavy rains, or lots of snow. Steel also has a tendency to rust when in contact with moisture, and can be fairly heavy to lift and support when installed.

Aluminum is also strong, but will not rust. With regular maintenance, these types of gutters can last for decades. Aluminum gutters also come in a wide variety of colors, which means you won't have to paint them unless you're trying to match the color to your home.

Traditional Vinyl Gutters Installation Vinyl has been gaining in popularity because it is lightweight, does not rust, is extremely easy to install, and does not require painting or any other kind of aesthetic maintenance. The main drawback to vinyl gutters is durability. It tends to develop cracks and deteriorates when exposed to extensive heat and dryness or intense cold weather. Also, heavy rains can cause warping that may ruin or damage functionality. Vinyl can also become seriously damaged if clogs are not promptly attended to.

Aluminum Seamless Gutters Installation Seamless Gutters

Seamless gutters are generally stronger than traditional gutters, so they are ideal for use with systems that often become clogged and are not immediately cleaned. Seamless gutters are constructed of many of the same materials as traditional gutters, but come in single pieces that are not sectioned. These single pieces are cut on-site using a machine that is fed with rolls of the chosen material. This process makes seamless installation unsuitable for do-it-yourself projects. Because seamless gutters do not have sections, they only have seams at corners and at the downspout. This limits opportunity for leakage and minimizes clogs. While it is not true that there is no chance of leakage, it is true that seamless gutters leak far less than traditional gutters.

Aluminum Seamless Gutters Installation Seamless gutters tend to be more expensive compared to their traditional counterparts, and they can also be somewhat difficult to install. Homeowners on a tight budget should be wary of the cost associated with installing a seamless system, but if the reduced maintenance, and longer life of this type of gutter system appeals to you, then seamless is the way to go.

Which gutter system is best for your home may not be immediately obvious. If your home sits beneath overhanging trees, the leaves or pine needles they drop could become destructive forces and cause leaks or even clogs. Seamless gutters may be slightly more expensive to install, but you will save money in maintenance and repairs over the years to pay for the additional cost.

Fiber Board Siding Installation Siding

Choosing to replace your home’s exterior with siding is an important decision. Siding makes your home look great. Clean lines, crisp colors that will not fade easily under the intense sun and does not chip easily. The right siding and color can transform the exterior of your property. Siding materials consist of fiber cement, metal, vinyl and wood. Fiber cement, metal and vinyl siding require little or no maintenance and they look great for years. That means less upkeep and time spent on the exterior of your home and more time simply enjoying your property.

Fiber Cement Siding Installation Fiber Cement Siding

Fiber cement siding is quickly gaining popularity. Wood fiber and cement are the two primary materials used to create fiber cement siding. It comes in a broad range of styles, textures, and colors. One big benefit is the elegant wood texture looks like actual wood. The concrete gives it durability unlike any other siding which is important when it comes to potential sun, hail, wind and water damage.

Metal Siding Installation Metal Siding

Metal siding can be made of either aluminum or steel. The best most durable metal siding protection for your home would be steel siding. While aluminum siding is the less expensive option, it does not offer the same protection as steel. Both aluminum and steel siding have several advantages over other siding materials such as; high durability, does not damage easily, excellent defense against harsh weather conditions, and highly resistant to fire.

MetalVinyl Siding Installation Vinyl Siding

If you as a homeowner is motivated by cost, vinyl siding may be of interest to you. The advantages are that it holds it color amazingly well and comes in so many colors you are sure to find one you like. Vinyl siding is durable, it is resistant to cracking and water damage. If you are looking for a specific texture, most likely you can find it in vinyl siding.

Composite Wood Siding Installation Composite Wood Siding

Composite wood siding is a product made from hardwood and softwood residual fibers that is bonded with an adhesive product and sealed with paper laminate. It is a lower cost alternative to natural wood siding. Unfortunately, composite wood siding cannot be sanded and repainted. Once the paper laminate is compromised, the planks are a loss. If you try and paint over the damaged area, water will still leak through. This short-term fix will not work and the siding will still need to be replaced. In fact, you could cause more damage to your home if you do not address the issue properly.
